2022--Beer #3: Get Toasted (Big Oyster Brewery)

Thank you to Trent for this beer contribution, Get Toasted (6.5% ABV) from Big Oyster Brewery. Get Toasted is a brewed with a blend of caramel, biscuit, and chocolate malts. It's a campfire gathering in a glass. Big Oyster Brewery opened in 2015 in Lewes, Delaware. It was named the fastest growing craft brewery in 2018. This is our second beer from the state of Delaware!

Cheers friends, we’re thankful today for our dog Snooki, who is always happy and provides cheerfulness to us on this crappy weather day. We like the can art, memories of summer campfires. Another memory is when Margie pinched a pint glass from the brewery restaurant while down at Rehoboth several years ago, to our surprise we find out later the pint glass only holds 14 ounces! On further inspection there is a black substance below the can top – could it be spilt beer or something undesirable? We’ll find out when we crack this oyster. We both like porter style beer. Strong caramel chocolate on the nose. Margie is liking it more than me, has a dry and bitter finish. Not going to pound a couple of these to get toasted, one and done beer. Smell is better than the taste…overall rating is 3.5 out of 5.

Hello! We are extra thankful for our warm and cozy house on this rainy and cold day - Brrrrrr! Thank you, Trent for picking this tasty porter. We like the can art since we are both fans of campfires and s'mores. Smells and tastes as advertised with a toasty s'mores aroma and flavor. This beer is a little too sweet for Keith so he would only enjoy one and be done - would prefer in a smaller, 8 ounce pour size. Heidi enjoys it much more than other porters she has tried in the past. Both notice a slight bitter aftertaste. Keith would rate this beer 2.5 and Heidi says 3 out of 5. Cheers! PS - TEN more days until SANTA comes!

Toy building is winding down, and cookie making will be heating up! I’m Getting Toasted, even with a fear of Porters, this one is smooth and rather tasty! The hit of Chocolate with the brisk coolness as the buds savior the flavors, makes it entertaining! Literally a 4.0/5 is amazing coming from a man weary of Porters! Onto the can art; loving it, especially for the season! Difficult to identify the name, but only making you appreciate the art more as you seek out the name! Can work is an A. I’m enjoying this one!

Greetings everyone! I love campfires and s’mores and this can is awesome! I typically don’t drink porter style beers, but this one had a delicious chocolate flavor! I really enjoyed drinking this! I would rate this a 3.7 out of 5. Cheers. I’m enjoying this beerstravaganza!

Life is s’more fun with a good beer! The marshmallow and chocolate flavor are evident without the beer itself being too sweet. This smooth porter is perfect for a cold winter night! 4 outta 5.

🎶 Marshmallows roasting on an open fire 🎶 is definitely what I taste. The beer's name is perfect, as I taste a toasty campfire night. The full body feel of warmth is perfect on icy day and night. I'm thankful for a nice fire place to spend with family and enjoy this treat. I rate this beer a 4.4 out of 5 as I sit back and relax while watching my 49ers play on Thursday Night Football! Cheers all! 🍻🎄🎅

Pleasantly surprised with the balance of flavor this beer holds. A good initial sense of the sweet flavors but a nice iced coffee like finish. Went outside my normal preference with the porter…4 out of 5

Good morrow!! This beer lived up to its name, it toasted me so much I fell asleep right after drinking it. Rating first as always for me, I give this one a 3.8 out of 5. The description of this beer really lived true to its word and it felt like a delicious liquid smore traveling down my gullet with every sip. The one thing that stood out to me was how it still kept a beer taste with all of the other flavors going on. The can artwork…*chefs kiss* it perfectly encapsulates a cold winter night beer that’ll make you warm and toasty after a few of them go down. Overall a beer that I would buy and drink again, especially around the holidays or crisp fall nights!
