2023--BEER #16: Fir Tree (The Drowned Lands Brewery)

Merry Christmas Eve to all! Thank you Trey for this hazy Christmas Eve treat. Fir Tree (8.2% ABV) is a Wintry Hazy Double IPA from The Drowned Lands Brewery in Warwick, New York. This Double IPA is brewed with Mosaic and Meridian hops and fermented in house IPA yeast. It lends itself to bitter citrusy flavors of pine. It is a delicious treat to celebrate the day before the birth of Jesus with family and friends. Drowned Lands Brewery opened in 2020 at a former prison site. It is operated by 14 employees for the 15,000 foot brewery.

This Hazy IPA has a soft citrusy flavor with a nice little bitter bite to it. Hog & Pistol Brewing Company is a home-brewery operated by my friend Steve in central PA. He and his son, Matt combined their love for beer and food science and started brewing and canning at Steve's home. He and his son brew and can over 12 different types of beer to share with friends.

The beer boasts toasty biscuit notes, sweet caramel and blended with oak and whiskey. This 10.7% beer is sure to warm your holiday spirits. Breckenridge Brewery first opened in 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado at the bottom of a ski resort. Inspired by the mountains of Colorado, Breckenridge has been brewing for over 30 years.

Talk about a chewy Christmas cookie in the form of a delicious beer. New Trail Brewing Company was opened by Mike LaRosa in 2018 and is located in Williamsport, PA. New Trail has received over 9 awards for their various beers over the past few years.

It is brewed with Cashmere and Idaho Gem hops, mixed with Peach, Passion Fruit, and Guava. This Sour beer is sure to have you puckering up under the mistletoe. First State Brewing Company first opened by Paul Hester in December 2020 and is located in Middletown, Delaware. The brewery has indoor and outdoor seating with over 25 different beers on tap. It was voted Best New Brewery by the USA Today 10Best.

This tasty imperial stout is brewed with American hops, blended with bold malty flavor, and enriched with rich caramel and toffee notes. This 9.5% surprise is sure to bring an avalanche of taste. Greater Divide Brewing Company was started by Brian Dunn in 1994. The brewery has since expanded to over 5 acres and prides itself on the the charity work and mission of giving back to the community in which it resides.

This juicy beer is brewed with Mosaic hops and combines citrus notes and a soft piney finish. At 10.5 %, this is definitely a great way to start the week off on the right foot. I "toad" you we would have some tasty beers in this Brewstravaganza! Ever Grain opened in 2016 and is located in Camp Hill, PA. The brewery has over 10,000 square feet and a 75 foot bar for patrons to enjoy their beers.

It is brewed with Chinook, Centennial, and Citra hops mixed with spruce tips and sweet orange peel. This tasty Holiday Hazy IPA would make Clark Griswold proud. Cinderlands Brewing Company opened by Paul Schneider in 2017 and is located in Pittsburgh, PA. The Pittsburgh strip district is host to the Cinderlands Warehouse which is made of up two large floors with lots of activities, seating, and camaraderie.

Holiday Reserve is a beer that Boneshire brews differently each year. This year's beer is brewed with Columbus, Citra, and Galaxy hops. The flavor profile includes herbal, citrus, and tropical flavors. This beer is sure to bring you some holiday cheer as we get another day closer to Christmas! Boneshire Brew Works started out at some local festivals by sharing their beers with people. They officially opened their doors to the public as a brewery and taproom in 2016.

Grapefruit, mandarin orange, and green mango are the flavor notes that round out this melody brewed by Dogfish Head Brewing Company. At 9%, this beer will definitely tickle the vocal cords. Catchy Chorus Double IPA was inspired by the four "magic chords" (E, B, C#m, and A) and has been the official beer of Record Store Day for eight straight years. Dogfish Head Brewing Company was founded in 1995 in Milton, DE by Sam and Mariah Calagione. They partnered with the Boston Beer Company several years later.

It brings bold citrus and pine flavors. This is obviously the perfect beer for a time of celebration during Christmas season! Sierra Nevada Brewing Company was founded in 1980 by Ken Grossman in Chico, California and the craft beers started flowing. Most notably the Celebration Fresh Hop IPA made its debut in 1981.

Straight from the Jersey Shore, a few of these 8 percenters may have you fist pumpin' the night away to some DJ Pauly D. Cape May Brewing Company was founded in 2011 and is located in Cape May, NJ. The brewery has a large taproom to enjoy a number of their beers and in the Summer months there is a relaxing outdoor Brewtanical Garden to sip the day away.

This beer is made for a special relaxing night, maybe accompanied by a glass of milk after indulging in this tasty 10.8% beer. Free Will Brewing company is a micro brewery founded in 2012 in Perkasie, PA. The brewery consists of a taproom, a barrel house, and lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the food trucks or live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

On the first day of Brewstravaganza, we start of with a New England Hazy IPA called So Stupendous (6.7% ABV). Thank you to one of our new members, Jeff, for starting the Bearded Baker Brewstravaganza 2023 with this tasty treat! So Stupendous is a New England Hazy IPA brewed with Strata and Citra hops. This beer boasts a mixture of passion fruit, sticky ganja, guava, grapefruit, and mango. This beer isn't just stupendous, it is SO Stupendous. Prison City Brewery is located in Auburn, New York, established in 2014 that offers beers, food and camaraderie.
