2025--BEER #8: Very Merry Monkey (Victory Brewing Co.)

Thank you to Brandon and Maddy for the beer on advent day 8! Very Merry Monkey is a Belgian-Style Tripel from Victory Brewing Company. This delectable 9.5% beer carries notes of cranberry, orange peel, cinnamon, and nutmeg. After a few of these treats, you'll be certain to get into some monkey business.

Good friends Bill and Ron opened Victory Brewing Company over 29 years ago in Downingtown, PA. They have since opened two satellite locations in Charlotte, NC, and Center City Philadelphia.

Happy Monday! We love the cute monkey cookie baker can art for tonight's beer selection and we are big fans of Victory! A Very Merry Monkey presents with lots of flavor. We taste mostly cinnamon with a little molasses as the spice profile. It’s a very nice holiday ale and makes you feel a little merrier after drinking one at 9.5% ABV! Wayne likes this one more than Heather. He rates it a 4 on the mug scale, Heather rates it a 3. We are thankful for this Brewstravaganza and the festive Christmas season. Cheers!

Monkey crew tonight is Ron, Margie, Gordon and Kara. Checking out the can art, is that an eyeball or bellybutton on the monkey? Is it a Buddhist thing asks Margie? Gordon does a little research and confirms the eyeball is on all the Victory Monkey variety, except the Merry Monkey only has two arms instead of four. Monkey could have been holding some candy canes with two more arms.
Margie & Gordon say good job of masking the antiseptic, boozy 9.5% abv. Margie & Kara says too much going on, 2 mugs. They enjoy the tasting but are not interested in a monkey variety pack, do not show us the monkeys! Gordon says not the worst holiday ale this year. Ron is enlightened with the flavor combination, and a few of these nirvana brews would lead to everlasting happiness. We’re rating this treat at 3.5 mugs.

I have to admit, not a huge Victory fan. But merry monkey is on the nice list (see what I did there). Packed full of flavor and I always enjoy high percentage beers at this time of the year 🤘🏼

My wife took a sniff (pregnant) and said it smells like bumble gum. Now I can’t get that taste out of my head lol

2.75 mugs from me! 🍺

Very Merry Monkey provided me some much needed warmth after this frigid day. I was excited to try another beer with a predominant spice flavor as they’ve been growing on me this Brewstravaganza. This beer didn’t disappoint but surprisingly had a lighter body to it than I imagined. The gingerbread flavor really shines through compared to the other Christmas-y flavored beers. With a 9.5 abv this beer also means business (or monkey business?) Overall I give this beer a 3.3 out 5 mugs rating 🍻

Far lighter than I imagined reading the can! All the spice notes came together very well, not quite enough to drive me bananas, but I did find it A(peeling)! I loved the comical can art! The art was fun, the beer was fun and the 9.5ABV will make it fun! Definitely didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much as I did! A solid 4 mugs!

This beer was a fun, strong holiday one! And like Trey said I’ve come to look forward and enjoy them even tho it’s not my usual type. I tasted cinnamon and gingerbread. I love the can as well, I give this a 3.5 mugs. Tyler, I’m loving the post pictures you’ve been creating, they are spot on! And I love all the pictures and comments everyone has been submitting! Cheers!🍻

No monkey business going on here with this beer! Enjoyed how drinkable this beer was for being 9.5% abv. Cinnamon definitely overpowers every other ingredient listed…reminds me a lot of a cider due to that powerful cinnamon. 3.5 mugs from me!!

I have been getting more into the Holiday Ales as of last year. This is another good one with lots of spice that all tie together. Can art is cool and Victory knows how to make a good Monkey beer, especially the sour one, haha.

Becca- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed how different this beer was! The 9.5 ABV was a pleasant surprise that I didn’t realize until I drank this quickly before bed 🫣 I’d definitely drink this at any holiday party!

Chris- ⭐️ not my cup of tea- after the first sip I knew this one was a beer for Becca.

I do thoroughly enjoy a nice Belgian Tripel and the Christmas spices make this one pretty enjoyable. 3/5 for me and 2/5 for Maria. Cheers!

Ho, Ho, Ho what a great tasting beer the Christmas spices have some great flavor. I love victory beers, especially that sour monkey but berry monkey is very good too. Well Merry monkey is now added to that list. Now I have trio of monkeys. 9.5 ABV is what I expect and enjoy about the beers from victory. Wish I had a six pack of this or any of the others. Would still have one left over for tomorrow and would have a good night sleep. 4.5 mugs for me and the can art is awesome, it has the Christmas vibes that I like and has some cookies on his trey.

A delicious beer to warm the belly on a cold day! I get a banana flavor (coincidentally and I know Jeff just got excited). Mild spices but full of holiday taste. This was an extremely smooth 9.5% beer! I enjoyed drinking this while watching Monday Night Football tonight. Can art was very creative, although the eyeball was giving me illuminati vibes 👀 haha. I enjoyed this beer and enjoy reading everyone’s thoughts and seeing all of the creative and fun pictures! I give this 3 mugs!

The Very Merry Monkey spiced holiday ale did not disappoint! The cinnamon and gingerbread notes combine to make a great flavor which helps make this beer very easy to drink considering it’s 9.5 ABV.
