2025--BEER #7: Day Rider (South County Brewing Co.)

Thank you to Matt for beer number 6 of the advent! Day Rider is a 4.2% ABV session IPA from South County Brewing Company. Day Rider is a refreshing blend of lemon, citrus, peach, pear, stonefruit, melon, and grapefruit. As the saying goes, you can't day drink, unless you start early and Day Rider is a great day drinking beer.

South County Brewing Company started in 2011 and opened a giant 13 acre location in York, PA in 2022.

Today’s beer is delicious! Very crisp and light, perfect for the pool!! I love the can and the fact that’s a larger size… less getting out of the pool to get more!😎 I give this a 4.5 mugs! Cheers to a great week everyone!

An IPA on the lighter side, this would be a good beer to drink with a burger or pizza. Good clean taste.

Chris- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ just like the name it’s an easy day drinking beer! I’m an IPA guy so it’s right up my alley.

Becca - ⭐️1/2 I’m not a typical IPA drinker so I’m not the best judge but I do like that it’s a lighter ABV just not my go to type!

This is my first time trying this beer but they have quality brews. You guys need to visit this brewery, very similar to Tree House in Massachusetts. This is a nice simple IPA, nothing overbearing. 3.5 mug

Day Rider is a quality beer that is smooth and easy to drink. I will say, it’s sometimes nice to have the option for a low ABV IPA. Plenty of flavor and compared to your typical 4-5% beers.

We were excited to try this beer tonight since we live only 14 minutes from South County and go there quite often, but have never tried the Day Rider before! After the first few sips we both agreed this was a very nice, light IPA that we could see ourselves enjoying on a kayak trip down the yellow breeches on a sunny summer day. It was very refreshing and not too heavy which is always a really nice switch up from the super hoppy IPAs we normally enjoy. Maddy rates this a 3.7 and brandon gives it a 3.0!! We are thankful for a fun weekend filled with Christmas markets & family 🎄

Great location, highly recommend a road trip to South County. Day Rider can art was good. Lone rider going to the beach with a helmet, not a roughian going rogue. Showing safety like the 4.2 abv.

Margie says good smooth beer without a bitter finish. 2.5 mugs from a non IPA fan.

Ron rates 3.5 mugs. Not tasting any distinct taste from the floral flavors in the description, just a good blend. Nice crisp beverage.

Very crisp and light, for a lower abv it did have a good amount of ipa flavor. Nothing jumping out distinctively fruit wise but do get a nice light hoppy taste! Definitely a beer that’s made for a marathon of drinking being 4.2 abv. Good quality beer from a very nice brewery! 2.5 mugs from me!

As the descriptions says, this is a great beer to get your day going and grease the gears a little bit if you’re planning for a long drinking day. I’m a big fan of South County but not a big fan of session IPAs. That being said, this beer has a great lighter, hoppy taste with the perfect amount of citrus. Overall it’s a lighter IPA but has the taste of a regular IPA which I’m a big fan of. Not a beer I’d usually order at a brewery or restaurant but glad I was able to try this one because overall I was pleasantly surprised. I give this beer a 3.1 out of 5 mugs. Cheers and Go Pack Go 🧀

Overall a very good tasty IPA! Very smooth to drink but my only complaint would be the ABV, but still has a hoppy flavor to it. Can art goes well with the name! I will give this 3 mugs. Cheers!

Ho, Ho, Ho this Day rider is an easy and smooth drinking beer with some great flavors. Wish it had a higher ABV but it is definitely a beer I would love to just sit around and have a couple of them. The low ABV is the reason that I will give 2.5 mugs, would like it to be more for sure. The can are is very nice but wish it had a holiday vibe.

Beautiful can art, and Tyler’s graphic once again amazing! Great light beer for drinking many. Low ABV allows that. A casual beer to drink if you still want to do something later! No bit, or aftertaste. I like this beer only draw back is the low AbV, I’ll call it a good functional beer. 4 mugs from me.

This was a nice, fresh IPA. I was intrigued as session IPAs are not usually a go to beer for me. However, this session IPA was unlike any I’ve tried before, it had a little bit of the IPA bite with a variety of tasty citrus fruits. I enjoyed the can art as it is fitting to the name. Also agree with a couple of you about a definite road trip to South County, very well worth it. I give this 3 mugs. I’m thankful for being able to coach our first youth travel basketball game today!
