2023--BEER #15: Porky Pine (Hog & Pistol BREWing Company)

Thank you Tyler Baker for providing Hazy Saturday treat! Porky Pine (7.4% ABV) is a Hazy IPA from Hog & Pistol Brewing Company. This Hazy IPA has a soft citrusy flavor with a nice little bitter bite to it. Hog & Pistol Brewing Company is a home-brewery operated by my friend Steve in central PA. He and his son, Matt combined their love for beer and food science and started brewing and canning at Steve's home. He and his son brew and can over 12 different types of beer to share with friends.

Interesting Hazy. Initially I enjoy the can art and the name. I’ll keep it simple with the initial taste being not too bad but the bite being too much. Not a fan of how the beer finishes but this is my first ever home brew so take my rating with a grain of salt! I’m going 2.8/5 as home brewing is pretty impressive!

Being a Looney Toons fan, I totally loved the can art! As for the beer, it tasted like a good home brew beer. I’ll give it a 3 out of 5 on the mug rating scale. Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

I’m really enjoying this beer! The can is great, I taste delicious citrus which I love, and I’m so impressed that this is a local home brew!! Kudos and cheers to them for a beer that can compare to the professionals! For that, I’m giving it a 5 of 5! Cheers🍻

Very easy hazy to drink! You can let your friends know they do a great job and would be interested in trying more. I would rate this 4/5 mugs. How long have they been brewing beer for??

Impressive home brew! I’m curious to see what their canning operation looks like! Smooth tasty hazy, could definitely drink a few of these in a night. I’ll go with an even 4 mug. I hope everyone enjoys their family time this holiday season! Cheers!

This is a very good hazy IPA, too bad we can’t get these from bars because it definitely something I would buy.
The can art was good but not as good as some of the others that we have had so far. I would give this hazy a 4.5 bearded mugs out of 5. Tyler this was a great choice.

Delicious brew from a great guy Tyler and I have the pleasure of teaching with! I loved how smooth and light feeling this hazy ipa was! I love the fact it doesn’t have a burney bite to it but a subtle citrus refreshing finish! 4.75 mugs for this Hog and Pistol Hazy!

I really enjoyed this homemade hazy IPA! I was really impressed at the whole situation of canning, labeling, and even taste for a home-brew. The taste was excellent, a very soft citrus with a mild bite at the end! I also really like the can art. Very cool to see the story and label that they were able to create!

We tasted this beverage before the official posting and sniffed out Brewstravaganza shenanigans was in play. Ron thinks this a homebrew (where’s the ABV rating?) that Hog & Pistol somehow can rather than bottle. Can art is cute, like the name Porky Pine as it reminds us of that cartoon Porky Pig. Plus the name implies it will be pine resin taste which Ron prefers. Margie smells a little fruit but not much of anything. Cheers. We both think nothing really sticks out – good or bad. We would drink another one…
